Goal for the New Year

Saturday, December 31st, 2016

Her goal for the new year was to gather her courage and open herself up to loving and being loved - no matter how many times she'd been hurt before. - Queenisms™

We’re not big on making affirmations,  because we usually forget them around January 4th, but every year we vow to not take life so personally.  We started putting this positive thought into our consciousness at the beginning of every year because we believe that we are all worthy of love just by virtue of being alive.  No matter how many times a relationship or friendship has ended  – we shrug our shoulders, move forward and jump right back in.  It takes a little bit of practice but we think life is too short to waste it on hurt feelings when what we really want is to love and be loved. What do you think?

Always Something More

Looking back over our lives there were so many times when we were younger that we were ready to give up because we thought life was over.  Death of loved ones, lost jobs, broken relationships have certainly knocked the wind out of our sails but here we are, still sailing into the wind.  It turns out that time does heal all and at the end of the grief or pain there is always more life to be lived.  What a grand adventure.

Free From Other Peoples Toxic Drama

Thursday, December 29th, 2016

There had been friends and family who had caused her a world of anger and hate. She decided it was time to take back her power by using this simple action and phrase, "As I breathe in calm and breathe out anger, I set myself free from other people's toxic drama." She was most definitely the Queen of her own life. - Queenisms™

We’ve certainly all been there – mistreated or betrayed by a friend or even a family member.  We didn’t want to keep giving away our power to these crazy makers so we came up with this simple tool to empower ourselves and let them go.  Taking in a deep calming breath and then breathing out as you visualize the anger flying away, is a great way to begin setting  yourself free from other people’s toxic drama.  Life doesn’t have to be so hard.

Getting Out Of Your Own Way

Wednesday, December 28th, 2016

She decided to get out of her own way and let her true self shine through. Everybody was going to need a good pair of sun glasses. - Queenisms™

We used to be plagued by the idea that we weren’t enough – smart enough, thin enough, creative enough.    The foolish truth was we were the ones saying these things to ourselves!  We were spinning the stories that were keeping us glued to our chairs with our mouths shut and our eyes closed.  The sadness and pain of living that way made us say, “Enough is enough!”  We knew, deep down, that we had so much to offer and that it was time to get out of our own way and just let our true selves shine.  We believe this is true of you as well so let’s put on our sun glasses and let go!

Putting Yourself On The List

Tuesday, December 27th, 2016

Today, just for a while, she had put her needs first. She had not been devoured by a dinosaur nor had the earth broken loose from its axis. She decided to try it again soon. - Queenisms™

We are letting go of things that no longer work for us and guilt and the idea that we are selfish if we take care of ourselves are two things we are saying bye bye to.  We just keep reminding ourselves that if we don’t take care of ourselves and occasionally put our needs first, we won’t be around to help anyone else!  It’s a hard lesson to learn and it does take practice but we think it’s so worth it, don’t you?

Living Your Best Life

Monday, December 26th, 2016

All of the gifts were unwrapped and she had said her thank you's. The only thing left to do was thank herself for doing her best to live a life filled with kindness, courage and love. - Queenisms™

We know it sounds kind of corny but when was the last time you thanked yourself for doing a good job of living your life?  If you’re like us you might have gone through, or are going through, a period where you don’t think you’re doing a very good job at all!  The truth is we are all doing the best we can to live lives filled with kindness, courage and love and a little self-thank you is a very nice gift.

Organize Your Priorities

Sunday, December 25th, 2016

When she woke up she took a moment to organize her priorities. She decided that today, as with all days, her number one priority would be to give and receive love. It was what she, and the whole world, needed. - Queenisms™

It’s so easy to be bruised by the lives that we are living.  Soon we begin to armor ourselves and then the love that we need to heal ourselves and improve the quality of our  lives can’t get past the walls we’ve put up.  We’re not just talking about romantic love but also family and friendship love.  We believe that love is truly what makes the whole world go round and we want to be standing in the circle and not outside of it.  How about you?

Steps For A Stressless Holiday

Wednesday, December 14th, 2016

We shared these simple ideas for a stress-less holiday with you last year and we love them so much we wanted to share them again with you today. A special thank you to our friend Lisa Kamen of Harvesting Happiness. http://harvestinghappiness.com/

We shared this Queenism last season and it seems just as important, if not more, this year.  In the bustle and whirl of the holiday season it’s so easy to lose track of how to receive and give happiness and joy.  It used to be that when the holidays were over we were ready to drop.  It took the whole month of January and sometimes part of February just to recover.  We decided to change that.  Now, every year our goal is to find ourselves, when the holidays are over, filled with the satisfaction that we had lived it and enjoyed it as the best woman we could possibly be.  We wish you a happy and joyous holiday and may we all listen from our hearts to be the best women we are born to be!

Ordinary Woman, Extraordinary Life

Monday, December 12th, 2016

She was an ordinary woman living an extraordinary life. She really liked that about herself. - Queenisms™

We always thought of ourselves as just two woman from the Midwest and that is exactly who we are, but we are so much more.  We strive to be loving, kind, generous and a supportive presence in the world of the family and friends around us.  We work daily on setting strong boundaries so people will trust and respect our word and because it is so much easier and calmer to lead an honest life.  We think this kind of living is the basis of an extraordinary life and we’re grateful for this knowledge.  We think you’re leading an extraordinary life as well!

Pat Yourself On The Back

Friday, December 9th, 2016

Sometimes she needed to stop and take a quick moment to pat herself on the back. If she didn't do it, who would? - Queenisms™

It always seems so easy to cave in and listen to the negative voices that say we’re not good enough!  We found it was just as simple to change this bad habit and, instead, give ourselves a kind word or two during the day.  We realized it sounds a bit corny but just give it a try.  Sometimes we like to look in the mirror and make eye contact and say, “Doing a good job today, Missy!”  Sometimes we just, literally, pat ourselves on the back and say, “Well done!”  Give it a try for a few days and let us know what you think.
