A Big Messy Joy-filled Life

Queenisms are jolts of inspiration by Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff. All rights trademarked and reserved but Pinning is encouraged.

Sometimes she would look at other’s lives and think they had more, or were doing it all better. The truth was everybody had a big, messy closet full of troubles that no
one else ever saw. So she decided to enjoy her mess a little more and compare herself a little less. – Queenisms™

The grass is not always greener on the other side of that fence. It might look green but it’s not. Every person you meet is experiencing something that causes them to struggle, worry, feel overwhelmed or unsure. Every person you meet deserves your kindness because their closet is as messy, if not messier, than yours. When we compare ourselves to others, we always fall short. That is because we don’t know the full story. We don’t see the self-doubt, the second guessing and the pressure other people put on themselves to “save face.”  We say, let’s not save face. Let’s dare to tell one another our messy stories. Let’s pull the veil of “perfection” away and enjoy being our imperfect selves.

Oh I do relate. I observe others on the surface and find myself wishing I could be more like them. What a disservice to myself. Then I find out what really is going on with others, usually friends and family members, and I count my blessings of where I am at in my own world.

Sure it’s not always grand or green. But to me, it’s the journey I take myself on. I have choice in how to ‘see’ myself. When I know I am being my natural self with others, there is a feeling of contentedness between us that seems to dissipate all the self-doubt, second guessing and pressure we put on ourselves. We are relaxed and simply enjoying the moments we have together.
