Born to Be Herself

As we grow up, most of us strive to get better at things. We learn to walk, talk, live in society, and many other useful skills. We try to master new things. We fall into the trap of trying to be perfect at something or many things. And somewhere along the way, many of us lose our true selves to the goal of perfection. The funny (or not so funny) thing is that perfection is a myth. We look at a rose in full bloom and say to ourselves, “that is perfection.” But we look at a woman in her prime and say “her beauty is fading.” We see perfection in a sunset, even when the colors are uneven or obscured by clouds. Yet we see a woman with some weight on her hips as very far from ideal. We could go on and on but only you can change your perception of yourself. Only your opinion matters. And only your perfectly imperfect self is good enough for us! We’d like to celebrate the fact that you do not fit into a mold. We rejoice in the notion that you are yourself and not a carbon copy of someone else. You were born, not to be perfect, but to be yourself and that pleases us very much.
