Brave | Reclaim the Crown to Harvest Happiness

by Kathy Kinney

Brave.  Look in the mirror and repeat after us.  “It takes a brave woman to get up everyday and live life with joy and a sense of adventure.  I am that brave woman.”

I was thinking about the word brave so I Googled it to see what would come up.  I found this quote, “… there is something you must always remember.  You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think….” It comes from Winnie the Pooh’s Most Grand Adventure and Christopher Robin says it to Winnie.

It is so exactly what I was thinking.  Every woman I know is braver, stronger and smarter than she thinks.  Very few of us are lucky enough to have a Christopher Robin to remind us of the truth so we have to do it for ourselves and each other.  I believe that life is an adventure but often it can be quite a demanding one.  Being brave is not just about rescuing someone from a burning building or fighting crime or Lassie saving Timmy from the well.  It’s also about being brave enough to get out of bed every single day and face your life with grace in spite of being out of work, in chronic pain or experiencing loss and grief.  I think that is true bravery.    So sayeth the Queen.

Going through the death of my 26 year marriage. It sucks!
Your words of wisdom help to heal my soul.
    Thank you.

Loss is such a tough spot on our path, Barbara and we wish you didn’t have to walk this part. We’re so sorry. We promise you that you are strong enough to get through this and we’re here if you want support. You are a powerful, wise, resourceful, beautiful woman with a whole wonderful, as yet unknown, path ahead of you.

Wow, I have that Winne quote on my board and use it in many of my talks with women to do just the thing you did Cindy, remind them how brave they are. I meet so may women who amaze me with all they accomplish given their resources or in spite of lack of resources (money, spousal support, etc). Being in the healthcare field, I also meet women who live with chronic pain and yes, they get up everyday and help others in spite of their pain. I agree, let’s here it for all women and the everyday moments of bravery we all reveal!
