Can You Tear Down Your Walls?

Authors Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff believe the walls we've built to protect us are also keeping out love. http://QueenofYourOwnLife.com

One day she was shocked to realize that to protect herself from pain, she had built her walls so high that no love, happiness or joy could get in either. That understanding gave her the courage and strength to start taking those walls down one stone at a time. – Queenism™

What once protected you can isolate you and so a review of our habits and coping strategies is in order. We applaud you for keeping yourself safe. We admire that you’ve been able to go on when your heart has been broken. But we implore you to keep peeking out from behind the wall and asking yourself if the wall could be a little lower now. Being able to protect ourselves while still staying open for love and friendship is a very important skill. We’d like to suggest that nearly all heartache and fear of trying again is caused by a problem with boundaries. When we set strong boundaries and communicate them clearly, we can safely venture out again and be willing to receive love and friendship.

Ahhh yes… boundaries… keep raising their persistent heads… but I don’t see that because I have WALLS!! Yeah. Learning is in order. Thank you!

  4. Teresa L W Doxsee says:

Ah..HAH!! Found it! Yes, the book, ‘Boundaries’. Going to revisit this little gem… of course, after I wipe the dust off. 🙂

  5. Kay says:

I live in the tower surrounded by a moat. Today’s Queenism resonates with me deeply because I’m so armored up that I don’t even know where to begin to lower the wall. I’m going to reflect on the safest way out of the protected city I’ve created in order to allow more love into my life.

Beautifully said Queen Kay and just by saying “I am willing,” you’re already making the wall shorter in some spots.
