Choosing to Let Go of Negativity | Summer of Self

by Kathy Kinney

She decided to stop hanging on to negativity and instead let it just pass right through her. She had finally realized that it was her choice. Life didn’t have to be so hard. – Queenisms™

When we replay negative thoughts, over and over like a broken record, we are reinforcing the power they have over us.  We can choose to break this cycle and let those thoughts blow away with the wind.

Now we’re not saying that you’ll never think again of bad things that have happened to you, people who have hurt you or situations that have made you feel bad.  We’re saying that you can choose to put those all on a mental list of “Things that will have no more power over me,” and burn it. Metaphorically or in reality, burn that list and say out loud “Yup, this bad stuff happened.  I release myself from the power of these negative feelings.  I will no longer handcuff myself to these thoughts and beat myself up with them.  I will no longer allow these thoughts to hold me apart from the joy, happiness and hope that is my birthright.”

Write your lists, Queens, and if it helps, go ahead and leave those negative thoughts below so we can “burn” them for you. You deserve love, joy, happiness, hope and lightness.  We promise you that you do.

Thank you for this message–I am working very hard on adopting this attitude this summer to carry back to work with me in the fall.

Queen Pat, Just by knowing this is a goal, we know you’ll succeed. You are Pat the wise, Pat the brave.
