Climbing Mountains | Queen of Your Own Life

by Cindy Ratzlaff

She dared to believe she could climb mountains.~ Queenisms™
We’re all climbing mountains and it’s so much easier to do with friends. This is a picture of me at Yosemite last year. It was a spectacular experience to walk in that park, see the natural beauty, feel humbled by the massive size and scope of mountains and take time to be with myself and friends as we purposefully talked about what we wanted for our lives in the coming years.

Every one of us climbs metaphoric mountains every day. For some, just getting dressed in the morning is a climb. For others, supporting our family physically, financially, and emotionally is our mountain climbing. We know that our own journey will change and what seems doable today might seem insurmountable tomorrow. But we hope we’ll still have the courage to dare. Our wish for you is that you’ll dare to climb your own mountain, at whatever pace and to whatever height that you can.

And, we’re here on that hike with you, as are so many tens of thousands of other women. We know that some of you are hiking with loved ones, some of you are hiking alone and some of you are still deciding whether or not to even start. We’re here. Won’t you tell us where you are?

    Dear Queens Kathy and Cindy,
I stumbled upon your article “Top 10 Ways to Become a Queen in Your Own Life” on the Oprah site today. Though I know there are no real ‘accidents’ in life… and this wasn’t either. It was EXACTLY the message I needed to hear at the PERFECT time! I went straight to Amazon, “looked inside” the book, and purchased it immediately! I, too, want to be a Queen!! (officially, I mean).

Actually, my life is currently a disaster. After a wonderful first half of my life, I made a series of very poor decisions and at age 47 I’ve lost my home, all savings and retirement funds, my job — and worst of all I’ve lost my self-esteem, self-confidence, self-worth and courage. For the last 4 months, my totally awesome 11-year old daughter and I have been living with my 83-year old Mother (who actually really NEEDS me here. I hadn’t realized how much she’s declined recently). And all our “stuff” (just thrown in boxes — MANY, MANY boxes) are in storage units). I feel so ashamed and guilt-ridden…. and you can just imagine my internal dialog isn’t so very special.

However, because of you two, I realize that “it is my choice how to face each day…”
and no longer do I wish to wallow in hopelessness (which is what I’ve been doing). I can’t wait to receive your book, as I already feel inspired to take action.
    Thank-you… and God bless!

    Kind regards,

Queen Anjela, We want you to know that you are not alone. Many, many women are walking step by step on a similar path. You are worthy of your own love and forgiveness. Think about what you would say to your 11-year old daughter if she made a mistake that had serious consequences. You’d scoop her up, hug her, talk gently to her and tell her you’ll stand beside her and the two of you will get through it all, one way or another. That’s the same talk you must have with yourself. You are right where you must be at the moment and you can see that your Mother needs you there too. It’s good that we can’t see the path ahead or we might not take the journey but when looking back, we can often see the purpose of it all. We’re so grateful that you found us and we’re hugging you virtually. We hope the book is helpful. The writing of it changed our lives. Please keep in touch. We’re so you are Queen of Your Own Life. Love, Queen Kathy and Queen Cindy
