Queen of Your Own Life

Consistency | The Battle for You

by Cindy Ratzlaff

We’ve been talking a lot about the struggles we all face, learning to look at life in a new way and how sometimes, even a slight shift in our own attitude can change the way we walk through the world.

I’ve recently rediscovered one of the tools we write about in Queen Of Your Own Life; the practice of writing down things I’m grateful for.  I’ve always tried to bring them to mind each day but I’m finding that the act of committing them to paper is more powerful.  Writing is like a meditation.  I’m able to quiet my mind for a moment, focus my attention on those things that are good, bring my head and my heart into the same space and feel very calm and happy.

BUT, and this is a big but… there are people, places and things every single day that are vying for that precious moment and want to crowd out my time and attention.  So I find that in order to practice happiness, I actually need to put my gratitude time on my calendar.  I have to block out 10 minutes and view it as a client meeting that cannot be changed or canceled.  This is working for me and I offer the strategy to you as well.  Put yourself on your own calendar.  Consider giving yourself the gift of 10 minutes a day.  And, just to inspire one another, let’s list something we’re grateful for right here so if anyone is struggling and can’t come up with their own list, they can borrow ours for today.

After all, we’re one another’s LIW’s and we’ve got each other’s backs.
