Dance | The Battle for You

By Kathy Kinney

Dance.  Look in the mirror and repeat after us, “I will find a moment today to express my joy at being alive by dancing.”

FYI –  You don’t have to do it any longer than you want to, and you don’t have to move like Ginger Rogers.  It’s all about having fun.

I got this note below in the form of one of those emails you must pass on to as many friends as you can.  It’s pretty wonderful so I’m passing it on to you.

I do this almost every night!! I have been doing this for a few years. After my divorce, I was getting depressed and my shrink told me to dance around the house. I live with my adult daughter and I don’t want her to have me commited (just kidding..smile) so I only do this after I go to my room at night. But I play a catchy tune in my head – I don’t need outside music since I can’t hear well anyway, and I dance with abandon 🙂 I do the moves Michael Jackson did when he was eight years old!! They don’t look like the same moves to anyone else but me – they look more like Chubby Checker trying to imitate Ginger Rogers, but who is looking? My dog looks on as if I am nuts, but I also practice sign language with her so she is already pretty convinced that I belong in some asylum somewhere. She would come with me, of course. A dog can’t commit a human without coming along for support 🙂

We love the image we have in our heads of you moon walking with abandon, Queen Corinne. Joyful, fun, wild and free. Thank you, thank you for sharing this. And, may your beautiful dog support you forever. Love this.

I love this post! You must be listening to me! I tried belly dancing last year but I was so embarrassed by my lack of coordination that I gave up. I do like to dance around the house and it tickles my husband so I will try to do more of it!

It’s such a joyful thing to move to music without judging ourselves. We’re inspired that you tried belly dancing. It sounds fun!
