For Today I Choose Faith | The Battle for You

by Kathy Kinney

I was programmed from childhood to worry.  I could worry myself into a corner faster than a mosquito will bite you.  I could find worry where there was nothing but sunshine and air.  I could pull it out of everywhere, mix it with a few real problems and then wrap it around myself in layer upon layer until the only way out seemed to be for me to gnaw off my own leg.  It was how I had learned to live life and I did live it that way for a long time.

I don’t want to waste any more of my life in worry and fear.  I do have real problems that generate massive amounts of fear on a daily basis but I don’t let the fear take root.  Instead I believe in the practice of faith.  I take all of the necessary steps to take care of myself and solve the problem and then I turn it over to God and let it go, because I’m not in charge of the world. One of the great things about  growing older is knowing that everything will work out for the best no matter what happens.  No matter how painful, humiliating or sad life is and it certainly can be, good things will come mixed in with the difficult.  That’s just the facts.

The choice of how to live my life is mine.  So when my fear comes up I say to myself, “What’s it going to be Kathy fear or faith?  A fool would choose fear – what are you going to choose?”

Sometimes I have to challenge myself every 30 seconds and other days not at all.  Faith takes practice.  I’m willing to put in the work to have the life I want.  I’m worth it.  I have a choice and today I choose faith.

Great post! I am also a worrier. I could have written this, except that I might not be as far along as you are in letting go of fear and worry. Thanks for this reminder!
