Free Holiday Gifts Fit for a Queen (to give)

Ho Ho Ho

To have a good friend is to be a good friend.  No gifts are required.  There are tons of free, easy and powerful ways to nurture your friendships and let the women in your life know how much they mean to you.  We thought we’d share some of our favorites to get your creative juices flowing, and we’d love to hear some of your ideas, too.  Please, please share so we can all benefit.

FOOD:  Make your masterpiece and share the recipe and the bounty.  Last year, Queen Kathy gave her inner circle the recipe for her absolutely fool proof and universally loved salad dressing, along with the Cuisinart hand-held blender stick but that’s not the important part of the gift. The gift that her LIW loved most was Queen Kathy sharing something she loved with them.  We included the recipe in last year’s holiday Queen newsletter and we’ll do so again this year by popular demand!

TIME:  The gift of time and experience is especially welcome at this time of year.  Gather your Ladies in Waiting and invite them to join you at home for an afternoon tea.  Ask each one to bring a card on which she’s written what she’d like to banish that no longer works for her and what she’d like to keep in the coming year, that still serves her well.  Let each woman read aloud from her cards, without interruption.  Let the gift be that you’ve listened to one another fully, with no judgment.

FUN:  Bring out the creative side in your friends.  Download the free blank template, here, to create your own royal Coat of Arms.  Invite your LIW to join you and ask each one to bring a craft item like glue, crayons, markers, glitter or whatever creative tool they’d enjoy sharing.  Then sit down together, and again, without judgment or competition, create your vision for your ideal Coat of Arms.  Include your virtues or values, symbols or icons and let yourself play as you did when you were a child.

MAIL:  Send a hand written note (we love these) to someone you adore and tell them exactly why they mean so much to you.  Put a stamp on it and mail it the old fashioned way.  This powerful exercise will mean so much to them and an added bonus is that you’ll be surprised how much it means to you!

DOWNLOAD: You can download free or very inexpensive applications for iphone and ipad from the itunes store.  One free application we absolutely love is for children 4-10 years old and is the Mrs. P iphone app designed as a companion for Kathy Kinney’s website.  The app allows children to read along with Mrs. P and play interactive games. It’s great for entertaining kids during holiday travel.  We also love the hilarious Elf UR Face, where you can put elf clothing, hats, nose and decor on any picture of you, your family or even your pets and then post the photos to Facebook, Twitter or e-mail.  It, too, is free.

What do we want for the holidays?  We’d love to have you read Queen of Your Own Life and share it with your girlfriends by having your own crowning ceremony.  Then, we’d love to hear about it.  You can post comments here and share photos of your crowning ceremony on our Facebook page.  Remember, when we share our stories, we encourage and enrich the lives of others.

    Happy holiday’s Queens!
