Look Life in the Eye

Life could come knocking at her door anytime it wanted to. She was brave enough to open the door and look it square in the eye. - Queenisms™

Life could come knocking at her door anytime it wanted to. She was brave enough to open the door and look it square in the eye. – Queenisms™

There have been moments in all of our lives when we’ve opened the door to new opportunities, and there have been moments when we were too afraid to look through the peep hole to see what was out there. It’s ok. We can’t punish ourselves for things we missed or we’ll miss the next big opportunity for joy. We can, however, learn from our past. We can evaluate. We can assess. We can, without judgment, ask ourselves what we’ll do the next time life comes knocking on our door. And we can make another choice. Because there is always something more. Ask yourself, without self-judgment, if you’d like to open the door. If the answer is yes. Open the door. Look life in the eye and say yes.

I have to laugh. I just let my office know I’m still home with an eye infection and the tag line for this article caught my (ahem!) eye. I’ve been struggling of late about following my urge to retire versus the sensible route of waiting two years when I’m sixty-four. If I wait I’ll receive more money from Social Security. But!, if I’m brave on the rocks with a twist of lemon, I’ll follow my heart instead. My dream is to launch a fun and satisfying business venture I’ve been simmering on the back burner. My friends tell me the time is ripe and ask me what I’m waiting for? That sure is a mighty fine question. Maybe I’m torn between sensible shoes with Buster Brown socks and leopard print pumps with red bows. At this age my feet would opt for the sensible shoes for comfort’s sake. My heart, on the other hand, wants those leopard pumps. Thanks for the wonder*ful inspiration that reminds me choices are choices and why not make them gorgeous and luscious?
Cheers to all the royal, regal women who wear their crowns slightly askew. May we all continue to uplift, encourage and cheer one another!

Yes, I want to open the door.

Queen Cherie, wouldn’t it be great if someone would make leopard buster browns? 🙂 We’d also like a pair of light up sneakers that sparkle when we walk.
