Queen of Your Own Life

Question | Back to Me Month

Since we’ve declared September to be “Back to Me Month,” let’s go back to basics.  In Queen of Your Own Life, the two essential questions we ask every woman to ask herself are:

  1. What do you want to banish from your life that no longer works for you?
  2. What do you want to keep that still serves you?

Many of us can come up with that banish list right away.  It seems easy to name those things we think we need to ditch in order to make room for happiness.  I want you to write these things down on a list and keep the focus on things you control.  So no banishing your whole family or things like that!  Think about actions, thoughts, words that you create that might no longer serve you.  Those are the things that I encourage you to put on your banish list.

Now, let’s look at the keep list. With this list, we really want you to name and claim those qualities you have developed that help you in your life.  Again, let’s focus on you.  You might be a good mom, friend, sibling or daughter and that is wonderful.  But we want you to go deeper.  Why?  Are you honest, brave, kind, generous?  Look for the words that describe your qualities and again, write them down.

These two lists are the beginnings of your personal road map on your journey to happiness.  We’d love to have you share something from your lists. When we share our stories, we all help each other realize that we’re more alike than we are different and that we each need to support one another on this journey of life.

I’ll start.  I want to banish unhealthy eating and drinking because I want a healthy mind and body to take me through this next phase of my life.  I want to keep my curious mind that drives me to keep learning new things.  How about you?

    I want to banish negative thinking, but I want to keep my kind heart, loving, honest, loyalty and great sense of humor.
