Queen of Your Own Life

Relax | Back to Me Month

by Kathy Kinney

Relax.  Look in the mirror and repeat after us, “Today I’m going to stop worrying and just relax.  Nobody puts more pressure on me than I do, so for today I’m going to give myself a break.  I will keep in mind I am not the Queen of the Whole World, but simply the Queen of My Own Life and those are two entirely different jobs.”

I’m not in charge of the whole world, but if you give me half a second, I think I am.  All I’m really in charge of is how I choose to live my life.  For today I choose to live it relaxed and curious about what will come next instead of rigid with fear and uncertainty of the future.  Life will happen no matter what, so I choose to show up for it with my humor and sense of adventure in tact.  I’ve been saying this all year, and I know it’s the truth – life doesn’t have to be so hard.  The Queen has spoken.

How are you choosing to show up in your life?

This is so directed at me. I am trying very hard to stop the worry habit. I love Queen of Your Own Life!

That worry habit is a tough one. It’s almost like we’re addicted to worry. Keep trying. You’re worth the effort.

This is so true. I always make things harder than they are. time for a change. Just got back from 4 days in Amana Iowa and had the best time ever. Things are so much slower and relaxing and the time spent was so cleansing for my brain. Time to have a new attitude and treat myself better.

First and formost I would like to get rid of all the guilt I have from growing up. Life is life and mistakes are made,,, especially when we are young and undirected. What I would like to keep is my sense of compasion and empathy that I can feel for others because I have been there. I would like to dig into my knowledge of life and living and be able to share that knowledge with younger women on how to survive and how to move on in the most difficult times.

Ange, that was beautifully said. That guilt and junk we carry around is heavy, isn’t it. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could spare just one younger woman decades of beating herself up?
