Replace | Naming and Claiming Our Royalty

by Cindy Ratzlaff

Recently I’ve been waking up at 4:00am and before I even open my eyes, the first thought that pops into my head is “I have a really hard day ahead of me.” I drag myself out of bed, get some coffee and before 5:00am, I’m on the computer and I don’t leave the desk or laptap until 8:00pm at night…sometimes later.

That’s the life of many freelance workers or entrepreneurs or even corporate workers these days because our work lives feel so unstable. But on those days that my first thought is about the burdens of the day, I’m never able to fully pull myself out of an underlying funk that starts with that first thought.

So I’ve started a little experiment and I invite you to try it along with me.  That first morning thought might be involuntary but here’s what I do.  I correct myself.  If I think “what a day!”  I say out loud, “This will be a wonderful day. I have an opportunity to help people, to use my creative mind and to take care of myself.”

Because I believe that words are important, replacing the negative thoughts at the start of a day with more positive ones can and should change the course of my day.  Let’s see how today goes because I awoke at 4:00am, thinking “I’ve got so much to do today that I can’t possibly get it all done.”  But I’m replacing that thought now with “What an exciting day. I’m busy doing what I love for people who want what I do.”

What negative thoughts will you replace with positive ones today? Let’s name them and claim them to inspire one another.

I have been a telecommuter before and just got another position yesterday to telecommute again…I am looking forward to getting up and saying, “Wow…I can work in my jammies if I wan to to!” Life is divine! 🙂

  2. Lauri says:

I have painted on the door of bathroom, next to the mirror, these words:
This is a day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it….Every morning, if I want to look in the mirror, I see those words…often I have to stand there and stare at that dang door for a few minutes:):):)….

Lauri … I have the same quote on my bathroom mirror; so as I brush my teeth I read those words. And I just love these daily Queenly words of inspiration.

As a recent muslim convert, I’ve been saying Alhamdulillah! This is another day I get to wake up and see all the abundance Allah (arabic for God) has provided us! I choose how I feel about each day and with opened eyes I see so much more good in each day, each person, each moment. Challenges are refreshing, hardships are only a test, and successes are sweeter and more rewarding. Sure, I have bad days, but I’m learning how to manage them and that is a success too!
