We’re Going On Vacation!

Laughter Is the Best Medicine

You won’t be seeing our newsletter again until mid August because we are going on a much deserved working vacation!  We are getting together for our annual retreat and to talk over ideas for a new book we’d like to write.  We will be working hard but we will also be enjoying every single moment of it.  We hope you’re having a wonderful summer and we’ll see you when we get back!

Sometimes we’ll glance over at someone else’s life and feel like they have something we don’t have.  Other people’s lives always look better from the outside but they have trials and tribulations just like we do.  We are all working towards learning to be strong and courageous women and being happy and the by product of that is happiness.  We are all born worthy of being happy.  Isn’t time to accept that gift and enjoy it?

Often we just get in the habit of feeling sad, angry or having hurt feelings but is that really the way you want to spend your life?  We have very little control over what happens but we do have a choice about how we’re going to react to it.  Keeping your sense of humor and imagination in tact and giving yourself permission to be happy again is something you can practice every day until you’re ready to look in the mirror and say, “Welcome back!”

We all have a tendency to tell “stories” about and to ourselves.  We ignore feelings instead saying things to ourselves and others to cover the truth.  Wading through the little white lies we tell to not rock the boat and finally exposing the truth let’s in the sunshine and grants us the freedom of living a honest life.  Don’t we all deserve that?

Is making the decision to not get your feelings hurt really all it takes?  Yes, it is that simple but it does take practice.  Other people will try and shake your confidence because they are afraid, angry, jealous  – fill in the blank!  You have the choice to not allow their negativity to damage you.  Two things that we find work are to avoid the kind of people that try to make us feel bad about ourselves and use an affirmation like, “Negativity be gone! They only opinion of me that matters is my own!”  Feels a bit silly but oh, does it work!

We believe that it’s true that everything we want is right on the other side of fear.  How many times have you let your fear of failure or ridicule keep you from doing something you really wanted to do.  It’s possible to make positive changes by just taking one tiny step through our fears every day.  The days add up and using the affirmation “Go big or go home,” is a good way to help yourself move forward.  Isn’t it time to get out of your own way and start heading towards the life you want?

When we are surrounded by people, places and things that are negative we don’t always feel how it affects us.  Of course the best defense is to avoid these things but it’s not always that easy.  We like to use our imagination to heal us and make our lives a bit more fun especially when in the middle of a negative overload.  We simply imagine that only positive feelings stay in our bodies and all  negativity just passes right through us down into the core of the earth where it is burned away by molten lava.  A strong imagination is a great tool for healing and laughter.

We learn through the years from nay sayers and media that we are not enough. There is a myth that if we change things about ourselves, life will be perfect and we’ll be happy.  The truth is there is a delicious confidence in just being yourself 100% of the time.  The people that are going to like you will do so and that people that don’t won’t – but they were going to do that anyway!  So why not relax and enjoy being yourself.  Life doesn’t have to be so hard.

When the pain of where we’re at becomes to much, that’s when we finally make the change.  It seems some of us can handle a lot of pain but there is always a bottom and when we get sick and tired of being sick and tired we will start to take the small steps to make a change.  Letting go of the mistakes of the past and fear of the future are important steps to begin to enjoy the now. Aren’t you worth it?

It’s so easy to care for others and often so hard to care for ourselves – but if we don’t do it, who will?  It’s one of those interesting cycles of life – if you work at taking care of yourself you feel better and if you feel better you look better.  We are all worth the time it takes to build our health and our bodies so why not take the steps to start doing it right now?
