Think about how different your life would be if you let go of the people who are addicted to drama.  Making the choice to spend time with people who make you laugh is one of the smartest choices you can make!

It’s quite the hat for Day 6 of Women Who Wear Hats week.

The theme this week seems to be Women Who Wear Hats and bring more happiness and fun into your life!  Of course we all have responsibilities but there are ways to allow more fun into our lives without feeling selfish.  Life is meant to be enjoyed so why not try it?

It’s Your Life So Have Fun

As women, it seems like it’s in our DNA to care for others.   This makes it hard to claim time just for ourselves but if we don’t we often end up feeling like resentment filled drudges!  Giving ourselves the gift of time to read a book, meet a friend for lunch or do something completely new should be a priority in our lives.  This “me” time isn’t about being selfish it’s about giving your brain and body time to rejuvenate because it’s just as important to care for yourself as it is for others.

Why Not Treat Yourself?

We all have lists as long as our arm of things that simply “must” be done.  We balance family, work and health like a professional juggler in the center ring of the circus.  Taking a small mental health vacation is a vital piece of the puzzle.  It would be nice to fly away and sun bathe on a tropical island (slathered in sun screen of course) but how about a quiet weekend at home with a good book.  Some of our favorite mini vacations are a long old black and white movie marathon or taking ourselves out to lunch and a block buster move or a long walk in the woods.  What is your favorite mini vacation?

Note To Self: Have Fun

Note to Self: I miss you! Could you please set aside some time to do something fun? – Queenisms™

With so many things to accomplish every day we often put ourselves at the bottom of the list.  We made the conscious decision to make time for ourselves like we would for any other beloved friend.  We take ourselves out to lunch, a movie or on really busy days, we sometimes just sit for 5 minutes and breathe.  We like to mutter to ourselves, – Note to Self: smile more or find a way to laugh more or even blink twice if you know you’re loved!  A quick “Note to Self” comment always makes us laugh.  Do you have a “Note to Self” you’d like to send to yourself?

Getting Lost Can Lead To Delightful Surprises

Thursday, September 8th, 2016

She didn't always know where she was going and sometimes she was good and lost. Yet she couldn't help but notice that occasionally the detours provided the most delightful surprises - as long as she wasn't in too much of a snit about being lost to pause and look around. - Queenisms™

The biggest gift we’ve given ourselves is to stop judging things that happen in our life as good or bad – life is just life. Many times things that have happened to us have seemed to deserve the label of “bad” but there has always been a positive right on the other side of the bad.   Try looking back over your life to see if good things have come from your “detours”, and if the “snit” was really necessary. In our book we call it having a “Windy Mountain Moment.”

Work Hard And Play Hard

We’ve been working every day of our lives since we can remember!  We’ve had jobs that have inspired us and jobs that have tried to steal our souls but no matter what we make the time to have fun.  We realized that in order to show up every day and do our work we need to refresh ourselves with a good dose of fun and joy.  Playing means something different to everyone – it could be a long walk, reading a book, gardening or making time to see family and friends.  Take some time to play today and let us know if you feel as refreshed by it as we do.

Think Of Life As An Exhilarating and Entertaining Ride

One day we realized that it was our choice how we viewed our lives. We could hold our breath always waiting for the other shoe to drop or we could see life for what it is – an exhilarating and entertaining adventure. We made the choice right then and there for adventure!  We believe that we are brave enough to handle it all and we believe you are strong and brave enough as well.  So why not get your ticket. buckle your seat belt and join us in shouting, “Wheee!”

If you don’t have pet dust bunnies, our hats are off to you. But if you do, we’d just like to offer a quick word of advice. Let them live.

Dust bunnies, stacks of paper, unfinished housework or chores and so many more things vie for our attention. Let them go, just for today and do something fun just for you. Promise?

Normal is Overrated

The whole "normal" thing hadn't really worked out for her. And, holy guacamole, was she ever glad. - Queenisms™

Someone on our Facebook page made us chuckle by sharing her thought that “normal is a setting on the washer.” So true. Other than that, normal is a highly subjective concept. For example, if 60% of American women are overweight, isn’t that the new normal? If everyone embraced their inner silly self, wouldn’t it be normal to be yourself rather than try to be a version of “perfection?” We’re all about rejecting normal and embracing individuality in all it’s quirky, colorful, magnificent glory. How about you?
