The Gift of Laughter

What good does it do to be the Queen of Your Own Life if you can’t make a Royal Decree for your own entertainment every once in a while?  Comedy Monday, Take It Easy Tuesday or Connect With Friends Wednesday are some good examples but the decrees are as endless as your imagination.  You’re the only one who knows what you need so give it a shot and make your own Royal Decree.  When you do, please let us know what your decree was so we can add it to our list.

Happy New Year from Queen of Your Own Life!

We believe it’s more fun to be on the adventure of life together than to be alone.  Our lives are so much better because you are in them.  Here’s to 2017 – another year of  peace, love, friendship and support for all of us.  Love, Cindy and Kathy

Ordinary Woman, Extraordinary Life

We always thought of ourselves as just two woman from the Midwest and that is exactly who we are, but we are so much more.  We strive to be loving, kind, generous and a supportive presence in the world of the family and friends around us.  We work daily on setting strong boundaries so people will trust and respect our word and because it is so much easier and calmer to lead an honest life.  We think this kind of living is the basis of an extraordinary life and we’re grateful for this knowledge.  We think you’re leading an extraordinary life as well!

Time To Put On Your Comfy Clothes And Breathe

Whether you have to leave your home to go to work or you work at home, is there anything more delicious than taking off your work clothes and changing into something soft and comfy? We’ve both had a bucket full of jobs in our lifetimes  and when the end of the work week finally arrives we head straight for the closet and get out the clothes that comfort us.  Sometimes it’s a T-shirt and shorts or sweat pants and a big flannel shirt or we head straight for our pajamas.  Ahhh pure delight!  What’s your ultimate “comy” outfit?

You: A Do It Yourself Project

Let’s face it. We are all Do It Yourself projects and the project is never done. We’re lifelong learners who experience joy, sorrow, friendship, and so much more, every step of the way. We’re not even sure what we want to be when we “grow up” yet. As long as you wake up in the morning, there is always something more and working on yourself – and your dreams – is the best DYI project we can imagine. What are you working on?

Searching for Joy

She had been searching for joy everywhere until she quite suddenly realized it was an inside job. - Queenisms™

It’s surprising how often we still find ourselves thinking that some “thing” will make us happy. Things can give us pleasure, but they cannot make us happy. Only we can make ourselves happy. We can do that by loving ourselves, celebrating our accomplishments, nurturing our gifts and talents. We can do it by offering ourselves forgiveness when we stumble. We can do it by focusing more on who we are than what is outside of our control. Here’s a secret. You already have everything you need, right now, to create a joyful life for yourself. Look inside.

Pearls from the Queens

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016

She didn't need a crown and ropes of pearls to make her the Queen of her own life. All she had to do was say yes to the positive voice inside that said, "Life is an adventure and you are brave and strong enough to handle it all." - Queenisms™

Ropes of pearls and fancy garments are nice. But when we drape ourselves in positive thoughts and actions, we’re creating an adventure worthy of a Queen. By the way, that worthy Queen is you, dear friends. Each and every one of you is worthy of a life filled with joy, friendship, happiness and adventures that make your heart beat faster with anticipation. We believe you are strong enough and brave enough to claim that life. Now go. Do it!

Exercise Some Control

The only things in life she had any control over were how she reacted to people, places, things - and her hair color. - Queenisms™

There are many things over which we have no control. The weather and taxes come to mind. We’d like to add that we have no control over the actions of other people. Yet we spend a great deal of energy worrying, trying to control and planning how we might influence others. What could you do if you gave yourself a break from the illusion of control? We can control very little. But we do have some control over how we react to others. We can comfort, agree, disagree, speak up, walk away, listen and say nothing and a host of other reactions. What we must not do, however, is put ourselves in knots trying to manage what cannot be managed. We must save our energy and efforts for things that matter – like creating more joy and laughter in our own lives.

Amplify the Joy

She would not allow herself to be defined by the struggles in her life. She chose, instead, to amplify those things that gave her great joy — and that list was very long. - Queenisms™

Did you ever meet someone who wears their story like a heavy wet blanket? We have to admit that there have been times in our lives where our “story” felt so soggy and heavy we could not shed it. We’d like to suggest that the way to slough off that wet garment is to amplify those things in our lives that truly give us joy. Make a list. Color it brightly. Hang it at eye level in a place you’ll see often during your day. Read it aloud. And add to that list often. Your struggles may not magically go away, but we guarantee you that your ability to see a way forward, to enjoy your life journey more and to be move away from the oppressive feeling of being stuck in your difficult moments will lessen. What’s on your joy list?

Love Yourself Unconditionally

It is easy to be bold and fearless if you are unconditionally loved. She decided to give that gift to herself. - Queenisms™

It would be wonderful if every woman on earth could experience love, unconditional and abundant. We’d like to propose that is possible if we give that love to ourselves. When we judge ourselves and our worth by what we get from the outside world, we neglect a basic truth. We are worthy of our own affection. And when we love ourselves, we make choices to support ourselves. We speak kindly to ourselves. We surround ourselves with supportive, loving people. Loving ourselves sets off a chain reaction of choices that supports a joyful life. And joyful people are like magnets for other joyful people. Dare to boldly love yourself and set a ripple of joyfulness out into the world.
