Fashion Choices

Through the years she had made some interesting fashion choices but she knew that, in the end, it was what was on the inside that counted. – Queenisms™

If you’re like us, you have a pile of photos of you in questionable fashion choices. Some of them make us chuckle and some of them make us cringe. Sometimes the clothes are lovely but we hate the way we look. Maybe it’s our size or our skin or our hair or some other imagined flaw. What would the world be like if we were all identical? No one would have silver hair peeking out from their wacky hats. No one would have a full face and lines around their mouth from years of laughter. We are more beautiful because of our differences, not in spite of them. There is a richness in the human population that takes our breath away and we beg you to look at your old photos again and see if you can’t make yourself see the utterly breathtaking beauty of every single image. We adore you – whatever your fashion choices and often because of them.

The world would be a dull place if we were all identical. We want to celebrate the wacky, weird, wrinkled, wonderful, twisted, silly and divine choices women make in fashion and in life.

Gloriously Yourself

Monday, October 27th, 2014

Gloriously Yourself is an original digital art piece and writing by authors Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff. http://QueenofYourOwnLife.com

You are gloriously yourself and anyone would be darn lucky to have you in their life. ~ Queenisms™

If you never “hear” anything we say, except this, please know that you are perfect, just the way you are. Your gifts are wonderful. Your presence is a gift to us. We’re glad you’re here on the earth. In case no one told you today, we adore you and anyone would be lucky to have you in their lives. Is there someone in your life you feel this way about? Why not tell them today?

Reboot with Forgiveness

Sunday, October 26th, 2014

Cindy Ratzlaff and Kathy Kinney blog and write books about claiming happiness in midlife at http://QueenofYourOwnLife.com. All of their affirmations and digital art are original.

She’d been down so long she almost didn’t remember which way was up. But thankfully, she dared to reboot, forgive herself and try again. ~ Queenisms™

Holding on to regret is akin to giving yourself a good smack down regularly. You replay old mental pictures and cringe. We know. We’ve done it too. But when we do this we’re robbing ourselves of the permission to move forward, change, find new ways of creating a positive life for ourselves and ultimately, we’re robbing ourselves of happiness.

We must forgive not just others, but ourselves. Making room in our hearts and minds for true happiness means cleaning out the mental clutter of regret, hurt, pain and other negative baggage. Practice naming each regret and saying “I release you and I forgive myself and everyone else involved in this memory.” Words have power. Thoughts have power. Are you ready to release regret and forgive?

She Was An Unfinished Novel

She was a Work in Progress is an original digital art piece and writing by authors Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff. http://QueenofYourOwnLife.com

She was a work in progress; an unfinished novel. She was excited to see how the story would turn out. ~ Queenisms™

I you’re reading this, you’re a work in progress, an unfinished novel. We all are. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could approach each day the way we would a book that has captured our imaginations; excited to see what happens next? There are many studies published on the connection between attitude and health. There’s even evidence we can train our brains to be more optimistic, less susceptible to stress and in the process become healthier and happier. We think that’s possible at any age. Why? Because we’re all a work in progress and that means that the next exciting plot twist in just a page turn away. What will you write on the next page of your story?

No Judging Please

No Judging Please is an original digital art piece and writing by authors Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff. http://QueenofYourOwnLife.com

She decided to live her life judgement free. She wouldn’t accept it from anyone and she wouldn’t hand it out. It made life so breathtakingly simple. ~ Queenisms™

Judge not, lest you are judged – both by yourself and others.

Don’t Act Your Age

Thursday, October 23rd, 2014

Don't Act Your Age is an original digital art piece and writing by authors Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff. http://QueenofYourOwnLife.com

She never understood what people meant by “act your age.” So she never took their admonishments to heart. She was a spontaneous, free-spirited, fun-loving woman and she didn’t intend to change anytime soon. ~ Queenisms™

There is no age limit on happiness. There is no age appropriate way to live that is right for every person. We know people who act old at 30 and people who defy age expectations at 90. Don’t let a number on a calendar dictate how you live your life. Your inner Queen knows, far better than your chronological age, just what’s right for you. Please don’t act your age.

Gumption and Grace

Gumption implies that a woman has the courage and the mindset to do what needs to be done. Grace is the art of doing it without taking prisoners. We love the word gumption. To us it implies that a woman had courage or at the very least, a mindset to “get ‘er done,” even if the task wasn’t easy. The act of putting one foot in front of the other and doing what must be done is, to us, one of a woman’s most desirable qualities. Now we’re not chastising you if there is an occasional day when you “just can’t.” We’re applauding you for the hundreds of days each year when you do it anyway, even though you’d rather go back to bed. We hope you can hear the applause because we think you’ve got gumption. Now, the grace part? We have to work on that daily. It’s easy for “poor me” thinking to creep in and we’re kicking it to the curb today. How about you?

Note to Self

Wednesday, June 18th, 2014

Note to Self is an original Queenisms post by Kathy Kinney and Cindy Ratzlaff of http://QueenofYourOwnLife.com

She needed to remember to do a few things so she wrote herself a note . ~ Queenisms™

What would be on your note to self? You wouldn’t think we’d have to remind ourselves to breathe, would you? But often we do. Writing down little reminders is a simply and really effective way to set your attitude on the
