Never Let Yourself Down

She had promised to take care of herself and to never let herself down. She was the Queen of her own life and she worked hard to keep that promise. - Queenisms™

We all want someone to rely on, someone who will help take care of us and watch our backs.  How about giving that job to ourselves? It doesn’t mean you can’t have family or friends who do the same but the peace and confidence of knowing that you’ve promised yourself that you will take care of yourself is a great gift.  We know it sounds a bit silly but as the Queen of your own life you can make a promise like that with yourself and work hard to keep it.

You Are Amazing Every Day

She went about the business of being amazing every single day and never gave a thought to whether or not anyone noticed. By the way, they did. - Queenisms™

It’s for us to see our flaws and focus only on them.  It’s a habit we fall into and hopefully, eventually, decide to let go of.  No one ever thinks as badly of us as we do.  We imagine everybody see’s exactly what we see but the truth is people mostly see what’s good about us.  If we let go of the self judgement and simply go about the business of being our amazing selves on a daily basis, life becomes simpler and a lot more pleasant.

Everything Will Be All Right

She needed a reminder so she wrote herself a note and kept it on her mirror. It said, "Everything will be all right no matter what." - Queenisms™

Nobody really wants change or  to face the many catastrophe’s that life throws in our path but they’re going to happen anyway.  We have all faced a great number of these ordeals already and survived them.  Understanding that we will be all right no matter what is a give born of experience.  Hanging on to our sense of humor and with full belief in our resilience, there is nothing we can’t face and survive.  We are all so much braver and stronger than we even know.

Perfection Takes the Fun Out of Life

Oh jeepers, she thought. Nobody is perfect and life's a lot more fun because we're not. - Queenisms™

We all have that idea in our head of what the perfect woman would do – how she would look, dress, cook and keep her home.  That woman doesn’t exist anywhere on the planet.  We love Martha Stewart but she did flick our perfection button for a while.  We guarantee that Martha does not live the perfect life that she has portrayed on TV and neither do we.  Trying to make everything perfect takes the fun out of right now.  If you’re serving someone a cake that you made, they’re not judging the way the cake looks, they feel special that you spent your valuable time making it for them.  Save your free time for love and friendship and leave the perfectionism to television shows.

Dreams Don’t Expire

There is no expiration date on dreams. So sayeth the Queen. - Queenisms™

Isn’t it comforting to know that it’s never too late to work towards making your dreams come true?  Of course, if you wanted to be a ballerina and you’re eleven years or older you probably missed the boat on that one.  Still there is  a whole world of dance out there for you to bring into your life – swing, cha cha, zumba, even hip hop!  You are never too old to dance.  Following our dreams sometimes involve compromise but it doesn’t make the journey an less sweeter.  Isn’t it time you dusted off one of your dreams and started making it come true?

Grateful For What You Have

In spite of ups, downs and all arounds, the bottom line was gratitude. She was grateful for the life she was living and sharing. - Queenisms™

It’s so easy to look at what everybody else has and think that they have more than you do.  If we were able to spend even 15 minutes in someone else’s shoes we’d figure out immediately that everyone has problems and that we are all just trying create a life of balance.  We all learn to look at what’s wrong or missing from our lives but isn’t it time to look at everything we do have?  There’s nothing as simple and life changing as creating a gratitude list.

Queen Of A Lot

We certainly spent a lot of time when we were younger trying to “fix” other people who we thought needed help.  On the other hand, we also spent plenty of time avoiding situations that we didn’t want to deal with.  When we finally put the focus on ourselves it was such a breath of fresh air.  We remind ourselves daily that you can’t help anyone else unless you help yourself first.  We walk slowly towards and through our fears and seek to surround ourselves with like minded friends who have our backs.  We are so grateful for our friends.  How about you?

How To Get What You Need

Friday, November 25th, 2016

She was tired of not getting what she needed, yet she knew it was no one's fault but her own. So, she decided she would show the world how to treat her by loving herself completely and unconditionally. It would take practice but she was worth the work. - Queenisms™

We used to think people should just know what we wanted and needed and then should give it to us.  We don’t know where we got the idea that everyone should be a mind reader where our needs were concerned but we dropped that idea like a hot potato. We made the choice to make our needs known and to speak up for ourselves.  We deserve to be treated well and with love but first we have to give it to ourselves so the world knows what we expect.  Do you still believe in mind readers?

Whose Opinion Matters?

Sometimes she let herself be bothered by other people's unkind deeds or words. She promised to remember that the only opinion that mattered was her own. - Queenisms™

We’ve both allowed ourselves to feel like victims of judgmental looks and words from strangers, family and friends.  We finally made the choice to not take the world so personally.  When we realized that no one could hurt our feelings unless we let them – we decided not to let them.  Ok, we know it’s harder than it sounds but not impossible.  It requires a bit of practice and an occasional phone call to a trusted and supportive friend but the freedom of letting go of other’s nastiness is so worth it.  Truly, the only opinion of you that should matter is your own.

Note To Self: Have Fun

Note to Self: I miss you! Could you please set aside some time to do something fun? – Queenisms™

With so many things to accomplish every day we often put ourselves at the bottom of the list.  We made the conscious decision to make time for ourselves like we would for any other beloved friend.  We take ourselves out to lunch, a movie or on really busy days, we sometimes just sit for 5 minutes and breathe.  We like to mutter to ourselves, – Note to Self: smile more or find a way to laugh more or even blink twice if you know you’re loved!  A quick “Note to Self” comment always makes us laugh.  Do you have a “Note to Self” you’d like to send to yourself?
